WAGNER TEENER'S BASEBALL RESULTS

On Monday, June 26, Wagner’s Post 7319 Teener teams were back in action, this time we played host to the Gang from Canova.

The 14U game would be first. Steven Peters got the start and he did a good job as went three innings and allowed just one unearned run. He gave up just one hit, walked no one, and struck out six.

Weston Bierma pitched the final frame. He walked one , hit one, and struck one out as Wagner would win this one by a score of 11-1.

At the plate Wagner would collect only four hits, one each by Paxton Kuhlman, Trey Segura, Beau Otte, and Bierma. They did use 12 walks and four hit batsmen to their advantage as they accumulated those 11 runs.

In the 16U game, Preston Mc-Fayden received the ball to start the game. A couple of errors led to two unearned runs for the visitors in the first inning. Wagner would answer with one of their own as Javian Pesicka would score on an RBI single from Joey Cournoyer.

Canova would tack on two more in the second as they started out with two bases on balls and a hit batsman. Joey Cournoyer then came on to relieve and would retire three of the four he faced.

Wagner’s bats were quiet in the next two innings, but they would do some damage in the bottom of the fourth. McFayden led off with a triple to right-centerfield. A walk, a strike out and a fielder’s choice left two runners on for Malaki Segura who promptly scorched one into the right-centerfield gap for a two run double. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an infield single by Landon Mudder. Pesicka followed with a double down the left-field line which left runners at second and third and caused a Canova pitching change. Frank Soukup stepped up to the plate and quickly fell behind in the count, 0-2. He would take the next pitch and line it into center field to give Wagner a 6-4 lead.

And 6-4 is how the game would end as Cournoyer did a great job of keeping the visiting bats at bay with some help by the defense with Daniel Soukup, Tyler Tjeerdsma, and Pesicka all making key defensive plays behind him.

Wagner was led offensively by Frank Soukup who was 3 for 3 with two RBI. Joey Cournoyer also helped himself with two hits and an RBI. Pesicka, McFayden, Tjeerdsma, Segura, and Mudder all added one hit to the cause.

McFayden’s line from the mound was one inning pitched giving up four runs, one of which was earned, on one hit while walking two and hitting one.

Joey earned the win by pitching the final six innings. He gave up zero runs on no hits while walking none and striking out eight.

On Wednesday, June 28, Wagner’s 16U team had one game with the Platte-Geddes teeners as they met at Jack Hennies field.

Daniel Soukup was the starting pitcher for Wagner. He would go 4.2 innings to earn the win as Wagner came out on top of a 13-3 score. Daniel allowed one earned run on six hits while walking five and striking out three.

Soukup was lifted in the top of the fifth with the bases loaded. Malaki Segura came in to get the number three hitter to ground out and end the Platte-Geddes threat. Segura finished the game up as he allowed two runs, one earned, on one hit while walking two and striking out one.

Wagner was all over the base paths in this game as the bats were hot. They collected 17 hits and six walks. Segura, Preston McFayden, and Joey Cournoyer all had three hits with McFayden and Cournoyer scoring twice.

Daniel and Frank Soukup and Brady Cournoyer collected two hits apiece with the Soukup boys each scoring twice.

Tyler Tjeerdsma and Landon Mudder each had a hit with Tjeerdsma knocking in three runs on the night. Kysin Cook also had an RBI for Wagner.
