WAGNER SNAGS A WIN OVER PARKER

Wagner Spring Varsity snagged a late lead and defeated Parker (SD) 16-6 on Sunday. The game was tied at six with Wagner Spring Varsity batting in the bottom of the fifth when Hunter Loeffler singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Matt Link led Wagner Spring Varsity to victory by driving in four runs. Link went 2-for-4 at the plate. LINK drove in runs on a single in the third, a triple in the fourth, and a in the sixth.

Parker (SD) got things started in the first inning when Sheaffer grounded out, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Wagner Spring Varsity tied things up at six when Carter Cournoyer grounded out, scoring one run.

After Parker (SD) scored three runs in the top of the third, Wagner Spring Varsity answered with three of their own. Parker (SD) scored when Pesicka grounded out, scoring three runs. Wagner Spring Varsity then answered when LINK singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Teddy Slaba singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Joey Cournoyer drew a walk, scoring one run.

Wagner Spring Varsity scored eight runs in the sixth inning. Wagner Spring Varsity's offense in the inning came from walks by Brady Cournoyer, Loeffler, Corbin Carda, and Cournoyer, singles by Cournoyer and Frank Soukup, a sac fly by Slaba, and by Link.

Joey Cournoyer was the winning pitcher for Wagner Spring Varsity. The righty surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out seven.

Vanviliet led things off on the hill for Parker (SD). The bulldog went five and two-thirds innings, allowing 16 runs on ten hits and striking out eight.

Javian Pesicka started the game for Wagner Spring Varsity. The pitcher allowed six hits and six runs over two innings, striking out three Wagner Spring Varsity racked up ten hits. Joey Cournoyer, Slaba, and Link each managed multiple hits for Wagner. Wagner didn't commit a single error in the field.
