In a 133 to 64 vote, the residents of Wagner soundly rejected the Wagner City Councils resolution of support for the state three-lane highway proposal.

Leo Soukup commented, “I am very proud of our Wagner residents standing up for what is right for the city of Wagner. With the vote today it is clear that a huge majority of Wagner residents support the four-lane proposal. Petitions phone calls, emails, letters, written and oral testimony to the Wagner City Council and State DOT have also been overwhelmingly supportive of the 4 lanes.”

Gerrit Juffer added, “The people have spoken loud and clear. They have nullified and rejected the city resolution for the SD DOT threelane proposal. It is time to move forward and unify in support of the four-lane through Wagner. To do otherwise would not be in the best interest of our community.”

Lori Bouza commented. “Over and over again the South Dakota DOT has made it clear they will abide by the wishes of the City of Wagner. The vote today gave them that directive. This was a huge issue and a huge victory for the future of Wagner for the next 40 years.
