The Wagner 7th grade boys’ basketball hosted the Kimball-White Lake Wildkats for a game at the Armory on Friday, February 10. They faced the Wildkats earlier in the season, but this time the Wildkats brought a combined 7/8 grade team that proved to be more a challenge. The Raiders got off to a fast start and built a 7-2 lead early in the game. The Wildkats stormed back to tie the game and eventually took a 12-10 lead into the half over the Raiders. The Raiders settled down offensively and ran through the offense better to start the 2nd half and regained the lead and pushed it up to 7 points. The Wildkats made another run and made some huge 3 pointers to tie the game up with under 2 minutes to go. The Raiders responded as Payne Petry made basket in the post to regain the lead. After a big defensive stop, the Raiders pushed the ball down court and Cruise Koupal found an open Brannon Bruguier for a basket to extend the Raiders lead to 4. The Raiders got another stop defensively and were then able to run out the clock for a 28-24 victory. The win moved the Raiders record to 8-3 on the season. Leading scorers for the Raiders were Payne Petry and Cruise Koupal each with 9, Steven Peters with 5, Brannon Bruguier with 4 and Brock Cournoyer with 1. Both the 7th and 8th grade teams are in action again on February 14, against Bon Homme in the Auxiliary Gym at the school.
