The Wagner Quiz Bowl team will be traveling to Mitchell Saturday, January 18, for the Q107.3 FM Quiz Bowl. Wagner’s first competition begins at 10 a.m., against the winner of a match between Freeman and Mt. Vernon. Spectators are welcome, and the tournament begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Pepsi Cola Theater. Quiz Bowl team members include Malcolm Janis, captain, junior; Kallen Kafka, junior; and Michelle Soukup, junior. Alternates are Rose Eitemiller, senior, and Alaina Bechen, sophomore. Wagner is one of eight teams advancing to the prize round of the double-elimination tournament. The tournament began in September with 32 teams. Wagner enters the prize round with a 3-4 loss to Hanson and wins against Bon Homme (3-1); Corsica-Stickney (3-1); McCook Central (3-1); and Winner (3-2). Students who express interest in competing on Wagner’s quiz bowl team are selected by receiving the highest scores on a qualifying test in the fall.
