The Lady Red Raider volleyball team traveled to Burke Monday, October 23rd to take on the Lady Cougars. Wagner came out ready to play and swept the Cougars in three straight sets with scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-11.

Wagner had a well-balanced attack at the net with Ashlyn Koupal throwing down 11 kills, Kya Kjeldgaard added 6, Shona Kocer had 5 and both Aubrey Medricky and Ravyn Medricky had 4.

Macy Koupal distributed the ball well to her hitters and racked up 28 assists in the win. Behind the service line Kjeldgaard led with 13 points/1 ace, M. Koupal added 10 points/1 ace, and A. Koupal had 10 points. Kjeldgaard led the defense scrambling for 23 digs, Madi Knebel picked up 18, and A. Koupal had 11. Up at the net the “Wagner Wall” showed a strong front with Shona Kocer putting up 6 blocks, A. Medricky and R. Medricky each putting up 4, and M. Koupal and Kjeldgaard adding 2 apiece in win.

The JV team lost a tough battle ending their season with a 12-9 record. The scores of the match were 16-25 and 19-25. Ravyn Medricky and Hannah Holzbauer led all hitters with 4 kills. Braxton Nedved dished out 13 assists in the match. Behind the service line Holzbauer earned 6 points and Libby Kotab had 4 points. Shana Lensing and Libby Kotab had 10 and 8 digs in the match.

The C team fought hard but came up short, ending their season with a record of 11-5. The scores of the match were 22-25 and 21-25. Leading the attack was Brianna Fuchs with 3 kills, along with Rico Fischer and Emma Kreeger each earning 2. Jazlyn Lhotak and Kreeger each had 3 assists in the match. Hannah Holzbauer led all servers with 5 points/3 aces. In the backcourt Lhotak scrapped for 15 digs, Fischer added 7, and Holzbauer had 5. Fuchs and Ashtyn Bruguier each had 1 stop up at the net.

The JV and C teams both had great seasons and we saw a lot of improvement. This is such a great group of young ladies, and we are looking forward to the years to come. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the Wagner Volleyball program. The future looks bright.

The Varsity team will begin their post season play Tuesday, October 31st.
