The Wagner Volleyball team traveled to compete in the SoDak 16 match in Plankinton on Tuesday, November 8th. The #1 ranked Red Raiders faced the #16 seed Winner Warriors. The Lady Red Raiders came out ready to play and earned another trip to the State tournament with scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-18.

Outside hitters Avari Bruguier and Emma Yost led the attack with 9 kills in the win. Kya Kjeldgaard racked up 8 kills and Shalayne Nagel put down 7. Setter Macy Koupal did a great job moving the ball around and tallied 29 assists in the match. Nagel led all servers with 12 points/4 aces, Madi Knebel added 8 points/2 aces, and E. Yost had 7 points. E. Yost led the defense with 28 digs, Bruguier and M.Koupal each scrapped for 11 digs, while Knebel added 9 and M. Koupal had 8. Our blocking crew “The Wagner Wall” was led by Nagel with 6 stops, Kocer put up 5 and Kjeldgaard had 4 in the win.

With the big win Wagner earns the top seed in the Class A State Tournament next weekend November 17th, 18th, and 19th at the Denny Premiere Center in Sioux Falls. Wagner will face eighth seed Elk Point Jefferson at 11:30 on Thursday, November 17th.
