On Tuesday, June 13, Wagner’s Post 11 Legion team traveled to Gregory. Carter Cournoyer would be the pitcher of record as he would go 5.1 innings giving up five runs, two of which were earned, on ten hits while walking two and striking out five.
Camden Roth came on to get the final two outs as he retired two of the three batters he faced.
The struggle continued at the plate for Wagner as we would score only one run on five hits as we would come up on the short end of the 5-1 score.
Frank Soukup collected two hits while Matt Link, Carter Cournoyer and Brady Cournoyer each had one. Brady’s hit did drive in brother Carter for Wagner’s lone run.
On Friday, June 16, Wagner’s Post 11 Legion team played host to the Padres from Mt. Vernon- Plankinton-Corsica-Stickney.
After a scoreless first for the Padres, Wagner would plate four runs on zero hits. They used five walks, a hit batsman, and an error to score those runs.
In the third inning the first two batters for the visitors would reach and eventually come around to score cutting the lead in half. Wagner would answer back, though, using timely hits from Javian Pesicka and Carter Cournoyer to plate three runs.
Wagner would tack on lone runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to pad their lead as they went on to win by a score of 10-4.
Ted Slaba would get the start for Wagner. He pitched 4.2 effective innings as he would give up three runs, two of which were earned, on five hits while walking three, hitting one, and striking out one.
Joey Cournoyer finished up in relief giving up one earned run on five hits while walking one and striking out one.
Wagner was led offensively by Slaba and Daniel Soukup who two hits each, with Slaba’s being a double. Pesicka, Carter Cournoyer, and Joey Cournoyer would each contribute one hit as well.
