WAGNER POST 11 LEGION RESULTS

By
Coach Matt Slaba

On Thursday, June 8, Wagner’s Post 11 Legion team traveled to Platte to take on the White Caps in one game.

Matt Link got the start on the mound. He would last four innings. Two of those innings were pretty good. Two were less than desirable. It would take Matt 33 pitches to get through the first inning. He would give up two earned runs while walking one, hitting one, and striking out three. The next two innings went smoothly as he would face six batters, retiring all of them on 16 pitches.

The final frame for Link was the roughest. He would face nine batters, walking three of them. He also gave up two hits and had a couple of wild pitches as five Platte runners would cross the plate.

Corbin Carda came on to pitch the fifth inning. He would have gotten out of it unscathed but for a costly mental error which would ultimately allow three unearned runs to cross the plate.

Offensively, Wagner was not giving its pitchers any help this night as they would collect only one hit, and infield single by Javian Pesicka, as they would fall by the final score of 10-0.

On Friday, June 9, Alexandria’s American Legion team came to the Jack Hennies Complex for one seven inning contest.

Wagner’s bats continued to slumber as for the second game in a row the boys would score zero runs as Alexandria would come out on top by a score of 7-0.

Ted Slaba was the pitcher of record for Wagner as went five innings giving up seven runs, six of which were earned, on twelve hits while walking three and striking out one.

Corbin Carda and Daniel Soukup each made relief appearances in this game. Carda went 1.1 innings giving up no runs and no hits while walking one and striking out one. Soukup would retire the two batters he faced on a pop up and a strike out.

While no runs were scored for Wagner, we would have at least one base runner in every inning. Getting the timely hit has been elusive as of late. Camden Roth collected two singles on the night while Matt Link, Daniel Soukup, and Frank Soukup would each tally a hit, with Link’s being a double.

This week the Legion boys will be in action at Gregory on Tuesday, June 13, and will host Mt. Vernon-Plankinton on Friday, June16, with both games beginning at 7:00.
