WAGNER ORAL INTERPRETATION HOLDS STRONG AT STARS AND STRIPES MEET
It may be a bit intimidating walking into Lincoln High School with as big as the school is. But, this didn't scare the Wagner Red Raider Oral Interpretation Team one bit. The team performed to the best of their abilities and beyond.
The Stars and Stripes Spectacular Oral Interpretation Meet was held on Saturday, October 22. With this being the second meet that the Wagner team has attended, it was a bit less nerve racking as the team had done this once before and knew a bit more of what to expect. The meet was the biggest meet Wagner attends all season. There were 16 different teams ranging from class AA, A, and B. So, the competition was fierce. Wagner is class A and competed against many other students coming from a variety of schools.
Wagner held their ground and came up 6th overall in this meet. Placing in the top ten for such an elite meet is a hard feat and with Wagner placing 6th, we were very proud of the team.
Placing for The Wagner Oral Interpretation Team were The Duet of Trenton Rolson and Daniel Soukup earning 3rd place with their enormously funny piece of "Body Odor: The Proactive People Repellent" by: Bradly Walton. These two kids could not have worked better together. They had the audience laughing almost the entire time. Placing Third in the Humorous category was Kallen Kafka with his hilarious piece, "Radio Days at Xyborg High" By: Jerry Rabushka. Kallen plays a character who is both a radio host and a commercial advertisement. It is a great piece which left the audience laughing. The Reader's Theater of Kallen Kafka, Michelle Soukup, Mackenzie Roberts, and Daniel Soukup earned 2nd place with their piece "Keeping Score" By: Terry Collin. This is a funny take on what it's like to be an audience member during a basketball game. This Reader's Theater worked well together and left the audience wanting more. The Reader's Theater of Skylar Kourt, Monroe Kessler, Mackenzie Hollingsworth, Karly Reiter, and Kendra Kreger placed 5th with their piece, "Brunch Club." This is a great piece based on the movie, "The Brunch Club."
Overall, Wagner performed well in this challenging but, rewarding meet. We look forward to our next meet on October 21st held at Harrisburg High School.
