The Wagner Oral Interp team took off to Winner on Friday, October 4, for the first meet of the year! This year, we return seniors Jackson Rolston, Presley Slaba and Macee Stimpson, and Freshmen Taya Stone and Samuel Kafka. We also welcome Portlyn Jones to the team this year! Our returning speakers performed Friday, with all earning the top two awards given that day.

Jackson Rolston performed a humorous piece and a non-original piece, scoring a Superior on both. Presley Slaba also earned a Superior on her storytelling. Taya Stone received a Superior on her serious piece. Readers Theater (Jackson, Presley, Taya and Macee) also received a Superior. Sam Kafka performed a serious piece, earning an Excellent. Sam and Macee had a duet that also earned an Excellent.

This is a great start to our season, and all speakers should be proud of how much they have improved already in the first four weeks leading up to this competition. Coaches Libby Renbarger and Megan Fischer are excited to see these students grow! We have been given some great feedback from judges and look forward to continuing to improve throughout the season. Our next meet is Thursday, October 17 in Lennox.
