WAGNER MS BOYS TRAVEL TO SCOTLAND FOR SOME BASKETBALL ACTION

By
Coach Cullen Iverson

The Wagner middle school boys basketball team was back in action Thursday as they traveled to Scotland to take on the Highlanders. As both teams were short players, only one full game was played with an extra period at the end.

The 8th grade team pulled out a 36-28 victory to improve their record to 4-1 on the season. The Raiders jumped out to an 11 point lead at the half, but a cold shooting spell allowed Scotland to pull within 3 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Raiders regained their shooting touch in the fourth led by a3 from Deshawn Sully and a pair of 3’s from Tate Bair to regain control of the game.

Leading scorers for Wagner were Deshawn Sully with 18, Preston McFayden with 10, Tate Bair with 6 and Parker Petry and Frank Soukup each chipped in a free throw. After regulation, an extra period was played where Wagner prevailed by a score of 7-0. Leading the way in scoring was Frank Soukup with 3, Treyson Zephier and Quincy Mousseaux both had 2. Shea Kjeldgaard and Johnny Redlightning controlled the defensive boards. The Raiders have a busy week ahead as they travel to Parkston on Monday, followed by a home game with AC/DC on Tuesday and then again on the road to Gregory on Thursday.
