The Wagner Lady Red Raiders traveled to Pierre Tuesday, November 7th to face the Mobridge- Pollock Tigers in the SoDak 16 match. It was a hardfought battle between both programs. Wagner came out strong in the 5th set and didn’t look back winning with scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 22-25, and 15-7 to earn their way back to the state tournament for the third year in a row.
Wagner came out swinging big with Ashlyn Koupal throwing down 23 kills, Kya Kjeldgaard tallied 20, and Shona Kocer added 10. Senior setter Macy Koupal dished out 51 assists in the win. At the service line M. Koupal racked up 20 points, Aubrey Medricky scored 8 points/1 ace, and Madi Knebel added 7 points/1 ace. In the back court Kjeldgaard scrambled for 29 digs, M. Knebel scrapped for 22, A. Koupal picked up 20, M. Koupal added 15 and Braxton Nedved had 12. The Wagner wall was solid with Shona Kocer putting up 9 blocks and both M. Koupal and Ravyn Medricky adding 4 apiece in the win.
Wagner advances to the 2023 State Volleyball tournament in Rapid City November 16-18 to compete. Wagner faces Miller Thursday starting at 6:45 MT. The Wagner volleyball team wants to thank those of you that made the long trip to cheer them on. The atmosphere was amazing! See you out in Rapid City.
