The Wagner Red Raider Volleyball team traveled to Rapid City to participate in their third consecutive State Volleyball Tournament. Wagner entered the tourney as the 6th seed. Wagner met up with the Miller Rustlers who were the 3rd seed. Wagner fell short in a 5-set thriller with scores of 23-25, 18-25, 25-11, 25-22, and 12-15.

Up at the net Ashlyn Koupal led all attackers with 21 kills, Kya Kjeldgaard tallied 16, Shona Kocer earned 8, Ravyn Medricky added 5 while Aubrey Medricky had 4. Macy Koupal distributed the ball to her hitters and racked up 42 assists in the match. In the backcourt Madi Knebel and M. Koupal each scrapped for 27 digs while A.Koupal and Kjeldgaard each had 19. Up at the net the Wagner Wall was solid with R. Medricky earning 6 stops, Kjedgaard added 4, A. Medricky and Kocer each had 3 and M. Koupal added 2.

In the second match of the tournament the Lady Red Raiders would face the Dakota Valley Panthers. Wagner battled well but fell short with scores of 1925, 17-25, and 27-29.

A. Koupal led the attack with 9 kills, Kjeldgaard and M. Koupal each added 8, and Kocer tallied 6 in the match. M. Koupal dished out 23 assists. M. Koupal also led the defense scrambling for 16 digs, Kjeldgaard picked up 13, A. Koupal added 10 and Knebel had 7.

The Medricky sisters led all blockers earning 4 apiece and Kocer added 2.

Wagner then moved into the 7th/8th place match against the Lennox Orioles. Wagner came out ready to play and won with scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-18 to earn a 7th place finish in the tournament.

Kjeldgaard threw down 12 kills to lead the attack while A. Koupal added 9, and Kocer had 8. M Koupal tallied 31 assists in the win. Kjeldgaard led the defense as well scrambling for 15 digs, M. Koupal picked up 12, Knebel added 7, and Braxton Nedved had 5. Middle blockers R. Medricky and Kocer each put up 3 blocks while A. Koupal and Kjeldgaard each added 2.

Wagner ends their amazing season with a 27-8 record and bring home 7th place. Although the season didn’t end like we wanted it to there is so much to be proud of with this team. This is a special group of young ladies that came together and accomplished so much as teammates on and off the court.
