The Wagner Raiders had another great defensive showing against Avon on Friday night. Wagner struggled scoring points in the first half but their defense allowed them to take a 18-13 lead into half time. Wagner opened up a double digit lead in the third quarter and held on to win the game by a final score of 47-28. Preston McFayden led the team in points with 12, Joey Cournoyer Jr. filled that stat sheet with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 deflections, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Parker Petry scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, Carter Cournoyer dominated the glass with 10 rebounds and scoring 6 points. Jesse Zephier scored 6 points, and Javian Pesicka scored 2 points. Wagner had 13 offensive rebounds and forced 22 turnovers. The win brings the boys record to 3-2.
Wagner wins JV Game The Wagner boys defeated Avon in the JV game Friday night. The boys got behind early, trailing 12-6 after 1 quarter. Wagner took a lead in the second quarter and never fell behind after that. The boys led 19-16 at the half and won the game 33-30. Carlos Galindo scored 9 points, Frank Soukup made some big shots late and finished with 8 points, Javian Pesicka scored 6, Dominic Doom scored 4 and Ky Arpan added 3. The Wagner JV team is now 4-1 on the season.
Big First Quarter lifts C Team to Victory The Wagner C team got their first win of the season Friday night against Avon. The Raiders scored 22 first quarter points and led 28-9 at the half. Avon made some shots late to make the game closer but the Raiders held on to win 36-27. Dominic Doom led the team with 17 points, Avery Medicine Bear scored 5 points, Payne Petry and Cruise Koupal each added 4, Gannon Shields and A.J. Kotab each scored 2 points. The C team is now 1-1.
