WAGNER CROSS COUNTRY POWERS THROUGH AT SCOTLAND

WAGNER CROSS COUNTRY POWERS THROUGH AT SCOTLAND

It was a great day for the Wagner Red Raiders Cross Country team on September 8 while at the Scotland Cross Country meet. The meet was held at Dawson Creek Golf Course in Scotland.

This was a large meet with many runners; 257 runners to be exact. At the start of every race, the start line was packed with runners. It is always good to see so many of our youth putting their running talents to the test. With the wind blowing like it was, they would certainly be put to the test. Not only was it windy, but the course was re-routed from last year making this race very hilly, which is always a challenge for the runners.

Placing for the men’s JV (4k) was Cooper Slaba coming in second with a time of 15:45. For the women’s JV, Taya Stone came in second with a time of 18:19, Braelyn Jones came in 11th with a time of 19:12, Portlyn Jones in 25th with 22:22, and Ty’Shay Medicine Bear in 30th with a time of 24:11.

Wagner has a great group of Middle School Runners (2.5k). For the boys, coming in 18th was Mason Tjeerdsma with a time of 10:52. Wyatt Havranek came in 23rd with a time of 11:35. Also running for Wagner was Brody Krcil, K’Drian Weddell, Camden Wilch and Atreyu Almaguer.

Running for the girls Middle School was Ameerah Zephier coming in 14th with a time of 12:01, Coming in 24th place was Clarah Soukup with a time 12:29. Also, Laela Podzimek came in with 26th place with a time of 12:42. This girl’s middle school race had 61 runners making this hilly course even more of a challenge and they did well.

The next race for Wagner is their home race in Pickstown, SD on Monday, September 15th with a start time of 2:30. This event will kick off Wagner’s homecoming. Go Red Raiders!
