WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS

By
Alyssa Mathis

One of this week’s WCS Senior spotlight highlights Mia Dion. She is the daughter of Daniel and Sarah Dion. Mia’s nickname is Pickles. During her years at WCS, Mia has been involved in many extra-curricular activities including cross-country (one year), the play (one year), cheer (one year), softball (one year), chorus (four years), and gymnastics (four years).

Mia’s advice to underclassmen is to enjoy your years as much as you can because it goes by really fast. She also says to always give respect even when you do not feel like you need to. Mia’s best high school memory is from her junior year of high school at All State Choir. They went bowling and Mr. Genzlinger fell down on his turn, but he ended up getting a strike off of it. People not respecting others is Mia’s pet peeve. The person that Mia admires most is her unci (grandma). Her unci is the person who has taught her the cultural ways and has been there for Mia her entire life offering unconditional support in every way. She turned to her unci when she has her first heart to heart conversation.

Mia’s favorite color is green and favorite class is culinary. Mr. Kafka is her favorite teacher. Princess and the Frog and Friends are her favorite movie and TV show respectively. Mia’s favorite vocal group is Mo Town PowWow singers and favorite singer is Mac DeMarco. Pickles are her favorite food and Booms is her favorite restaurant. When Mia is not busy with school or her extra-curricular activities, she enjoys sewing and singing.

After graduation, Mia plans to either attend cosmetology school or tech school.
