WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS

Kya Kjeldgaard
By
Alyssa Mathis

One of this week’s featured WCS seniors is Kya Kjeldgaard. She is the daughter of Tye and Kendra Kjeldgaard. Kya has been a part of many extra-curricular activities during her years at Wagner Community School including band (three years), track (four years), volleyball (four years), basketball (one year), the school play (two years), activities council (two years), National Honor Society (two years), swimming (four years) and student council (four years).

Kya’s advice to underclassmen is to make time to make memories. Even if you are in sports or other activities, it is important to take some time to hang out with your friends. You want to be able to look back on high school and recall all of the stupid, fun things that you did.

Kya’s best memory from high school is after coming home from the school being on fire, her and her friends had a Scream movie marathon. Her pet peeve is when people chug water and make that obnoxious noise when swallowing. The person that Kya admires the most is her mom, Kendra. She admires her the most because Kya wants to be like her when she grows up. Kendra shows such an amazing amount of support and is always there for Kya when she needs her and even when she does not.

Kya’s favorite color is blue and favorite class was Interior Design. Mrs. Brunsing is Kya’s favorite teacher. Her favorite food is penne alla vodka and favorite restaurant is the Olive Garden. Kya’s favorite singer is Lana Del Rey and favorite actor is Paul Rudd. Her favorite movie is Coraline and favorite TV show is New Girl. When Kya is not busy with school or extra-curricular activity, she enjoys reading.

After graduation, Kya plans to attend college at Black Hills State University and major in psychology or pre-chiropractic.
