WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL RECOGNIZES "FRIENDS OF EDUCATION"

Sue Isebrands received the Friend of Education as an individual for her work spearheading the Helping Hands organization that provides the food the kindergartners and first graders for the weekend. Often referred to as the backpack program, it assures that students will not go hungry over the weekend, thus meeting one of their basic needs. Sue has been instrumental in organizing the day-to-day operation as well as fundraisers. Pictured receiving her award are Sue Isebrands and WEA C0-President, Mary Lease.

The Wagner SOC committee (Strengthening Our Community) also received the Friends of Education for their support and resources for working on student mental health. Pictured are, from left: Connie Kaufman, Avera Clinic; Erika Kotab, WCS school psychologist; Mary Lease, WEA Co-President; Missy Slaba, SCS special Education Director and Jaycie Culbert, WCS Project Aware. Both awards were given during a ceremony in the Wagner Community School Library with staff attending. They were treated to coffee, juice and cupcakes which were baked by the Culinary Arts Program at WCS.
