Charles Kocer
One of this week’s featured WCS senior spotlights highlights Charles (Charley) Kocer. Charles’ parent and guardians are Charles R. Kocer Jr. along with Patrick Belling and Kesa Alexander. During his years walking the halls of WCS, Charles has been involved in many extra-curricular activities including girls’ basketball film (three years), cross-country (two years), JAG (four years), journalism (three years), NHS (two years), Student Council (four years) and track (one year).
Charles’ advice to underclassmen would be “Don’t let people change you into a person that you aren’t. Be yourself willingly and have fun.” His best high school memories are when he was with his friends during JAG class, eating lunch, hanging out or simply being in class with them. His favorite teacher is Amy Petrik and favorite class is JAG.
Charley most admires the most are his dad, as he has always been there for Charles as well as his dad’s admiration and resilience. Charles admires Patrick and Kesa as they have cared for him and his family of which he will be forever grateful. Charles’ favorite quote is “Create a life that you can’t wait to wake up to.” After graduation, Charles plans to attend college out of state to continue his education.
Hunter Lhotak
Another WCS senior that is featured in this week’s senior spotlights is Hunter Lhotak. Hunter is the son of Gina and the late Jeremy Lhotak. During his years at Wagner Community School, Hunter has participated in many extra-curricular activities including band (three years), baseball (one year), basketball (two years), football (four years), NHS (two years), Student Council (one year) and track (two years).
Hunter’s favorite class is Advanced Biology and favorite teacher is Keely Brunsing. Hunters best high school memory would have to be the football game at Mount Vernon Plankinton his junior season. The person that he most admires is his mom, Gina, because she is the hardest worker that he knows. His favorite quote comes from Star Wars character, Admiral Ackbar when he said “It’s a trap!” After graduation, Hunter will attend Mount Marty College where he will major in exercise science and play football for the Lancers. His long-term goal is to become a chiropractor.
Preston McFayden
A featured WCS senior in this week’s senior spotlight is Preston McFayden. Preston is the son of Amanda and Chris Mc-Fayden. Preston also goes by the nickname “P”. During his high school years, Preston has been a part of several extra-curricular activities at WCS including band (two and half years), baseball (four years), basketball (four years), football (three years) and Student Council (one year). His favorite class is Culinary and his favorite teachers are all of them.
Preston’s advice to underclassmen is, “Don’t be lazy.” His best high school memories take place in the school parking lot when the high school students gather after games. After graduation, Preston is hoping to play college basketball.
Cadee Nelson
One of this week’s featured WCS senior spotlights highlights Cadee Nelson. Cadee is the daughter of Mark and Laura Nelson. She also goes by the nickname KD. Over the course of her high school years at WCS, Cadee has participated in several extra-curricular activities including band (two years), FFA (four years), cheer (one year), gymnastics (one year), swimming (ten years) and track (four years). Her favorite teacher is Amy Petrik and her favorite class is Outdoor Science.
Cadee’s advice to underclassmen is, “you don’t need friends to be happy.” Her best high school memory was when she and Hazel would take Hazel’s aunt’s bearded dragon on walks around the school.
The person that Cadee most admires is her mom because her mom is a hard worker and strives to make all of her kids happy no matter what. Cadee’s favorite quote is “If you wanna go far, then you gotta go far,” which was said by Noah Kahan. After Cadee graduates, she plans to attend college to major in zoology.
Genesis Patterson
Another of this week’s highlighted WCS seniors featured in the senior spotlights is Genesis Patterson. She is the daughter of Jen Primeaux and Galen Patterson Sr. During her high school years at WCS, Genesis has participated in basketball for four years.
Genesis’ advice to underclassmen is to “Do your best!” Genesis’ favorite high school memory was transferring schools back to Wagner. If she could meet any person in the world, she would pick her dad because even though he is not here physically, he was her motivation to finish school.
The people that Genesis admires most in her life are her mom and her sister because she does everything with them. Her favorite quote is from Frank Ocean, “If you think about it, it was over in no time, and that’s life.” After graduation, Genesis plans to attend Haskell Indian Nations University to get her bachelor’s degree.
