WAGNER COMMUNITY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-AVERA 2020 FEBRUARY FITNESS BUSINESS CHALLENGE CHAMPIONS

The Wagner Area Health & Wellness Consortium (WAHWC) held the 4th annual February Fitness Challenge. The challenge was divided into two categories; a four-person team and a business challenge. Participants gained points by doing different intensities of physical activity in 20-minute increments.

The Business Challenge averaged the points of their participating employees, which was not limited, to ensure equality between small and large businesses. After points were tallied, the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital-Avera were titled the 2020 February Fitness Business Challenge Champions with a lead of 34 points for a total of 114 points. The pressure was intense between second and third place, with Juffer Inc. narrowly edging past Wagner Indian Health Service with 80.4 to 72.6 points, respectively. A shout out to the participating business for a job well done! The Consortium would like to encourage other businesses to look ahead to next year’s challenge and have some competitive fun! Wagner Community Memorial Hospital-Avera will have bragging rights and a traveling trophy will be displayed at their facility for one year.

The individual teams had the same point system, but was totaled instead of averaged. Team Lost in Pace (Matt Slaba, Mieke Slaba, Tom Cartney and Julie Cartney) claimed the team title with a 150 point lead for a total of 860 points. The team received Wagner Chamber Bucks for their efforts. With 710 accumulated points, team WorkOut Warriors (Tiphany Dvorak, Chris McKinney, Sam Weber and Jessica Nielsen) gained second place, followed by the other three participating teams. Thank you to the teams that participated, the Consortium is looking forward to next year’s challenge!
