Call to Order

- Meeting start time 12:14pm

Shout Outs

- Lisa Schoenfelder thanked Juffers and Brenda Jaton for keeping the community informed on the progress of the 4 to 3 lane road project.

- Marla Hewitt excitedly informed the committee of the 100 year celebration of Buche Foods. Anniversary sales are all month long.

Halloween Recap

- Many individuals commented on how well attended the event was. Both kids and parents had a great time!

- Many people enjoyed having the entire block blocked off for families to walk around safely.

- Possible changes for next year: In the past, bingo cards were handed out to each child and given to business owners to fill out. Prizes were then handed out to the child when the Bingo spaces were completed. Also, instead of one block, maybe another block on Main Street should be blocked off for the event.

Sip and Shop (November 11)

- Location at the theater where 11 vendors are anticipated to be there.

North Pole at North Point: New Holiday Event

- North Point Recreation is planning a drive through Christmas light display in the campground. In order to make this event happen they’ll need participation from businesses/clubs/individuals/ families to create a light display.

- Park staff will be adopting the cabins to decorate and will be putting up a “North Pole” in the center of the cabin loop. On December 18th, the display will change from a drive through display to a ride through display for one night only. The ride will take visitors to the cabins where there will be activities and Santa.

- Will need participants from at least 10 sites in order to make the event happen.

Holiday Bucks

- Currently working on getting holiday bucks together for distribution.

- Will begin selling during the Sip & Shop event, November 11.

Christmas Committee

- Committee Members: Vicky Koupal, Patty Frei, Barb Johannsen, & Lucy Leines

- The members are hoping to do a variety of events, displays and prizes this holiday season.

- Hoping for a Christmas light competition for categories such as residential, business and overall best Christmas light display.

- Wanting to get volunteers together to do Christmas caroling

- Turkey drawing: They are encouraging each business to sponsor a turkey

- The Andersh family has volunteered to play a Christmas movie, provide candy giveaways and photos with Santa Claus.

- The Christmas committee wants to display a 15’ tree on main street. Location to be behind Bures & Kronizal.

- Motion up to $500 for Christmas committee expenses

*Community Closet would like to invite businesses to have an Angel Tree. Children are invited to make Christmas Cards and hang them on trees in businesses. The Community Closet will collect the cards and will distribute them to area Nursing Home*

Parade of Lights: Friday, December 10th at 6pm

- Friday, December 10 at 6pm; lineup at 5:30pm

- Encourage businesses to be open during that time for snacks and refreshments for families to enjoy.

- Please get your entries in as soon as you can.

4 lane to 3 lane

- Multiple meetings have been held with the DOT in attendance to answer any questions community members had regarding information and progress.

- For any comments for or against 4 lane to 3 lane, individuals can contact Neil Schochenmaier from the SDDOT.

Wagner Area Growth (Michele Juffer)

- Continuing work putting together the Chamber business directory.

- Hoping to find a central location for the bulk placement of the directories when completed.

- Avon is having a parade of lights…November 27

- Events begin at noon with a chili feed, 5k, Christmas Bingo/ stories, drawings and finally the Parade of Lights beginning at 6pm. Contact Laurie Jurrens for any questions.
