By
Coach Matt Slaba

On Monday, July 1, Wagner’s Post 7319 14U and 16U teener teams played host to Scotland-Menno on an unusually cool, drizzly day.

The 14U team would start first and, while playing better, still found themselves on the short end of a 6-3 score. Steven Peters started on the mound for Wagner and went 3.2 innings giving up six runs, four earned, on three hits and six walks, while striking out seven. Edward Ulrich pitched 1.1 innings and allowed no runs on one hit. He struck out three batters and issued no walks.

Wagner’s bats could muster only three hits. Peters and Ulrich each collected one while Dominic Doom had the other as well as an RBI. Peters also walked twice, as did Trasin Dilts.

The 16U team used eight hits and seven walks to take a 13-4 victory. They also took advantage of ten Scotland-Menno errors.

Javian Pesicka got the start on the mound and completed five innings. He gave up just one earned run on two hits and two walks. He struck out six. Brady Cournoyer tossed the last two frames and allowed three earned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out five.

Pesicka also had a big night at the plate as he notched three hits, scored two runs, and drove one run in. Preston McFayden went 2 for 4 including a double. He would also score two runs and drive one in. Malakai Segura had a hit, a sac fly, and three RBI on the night. Ulrich and Dilts had the other two hits for Wagner. Peters, Cournoyer, and Jamian Medicine Horn each drove in one run.
