The annual Veteran’s Day Program for Lake Andes was held at the Andes Central School Friday, November 10th. The program was designed and put together by the Andes Central Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) students. The Yankton Sioux Tribe Color Guard did the posting of the colors while the National Anthem was played by the Andes Central Music Department. Mia Dion then beautifully sang the Flag Song followed by the Dion Family singing the Veteran’s Song. Andes band and choir director, Julie Rysavy led both in musical selections that included A Tribute to the Armed Services by Lloyd Larson, Mansions of the Lord by Benjamin Harlen, The Star-Spangled Banner by Don Kellar, and God Bless the USA by Gerald Sebesky.
Nevaeh Morgan was the master of ceremonies and welcomed everyone to the program and gave the introductory remarks. The guest speaker was Tyler Hofer, a United States Navy Veteran. Tyler spoke of his service experience and even answered questions that the JAG students had prepared. Following Tyler, was a Moment of Silence in memory of all those who have paid the ultimate price and sacrifice for our freedom. Taps was then played by seniors, Carlin Hopkins and Riata Bultje. Nevaeh then gave the closing of the program.
