The month of November is VFW Veterans in the Classroom month. Five Post 7319 members visited the 5th grade social studies classrooms of Patrick Belling and Phillip Raysby on November 11th.

Veterans Mark Roberts, Jerry Seiner, Don Hubbard, David Woods and Greg Nielsen each gave a brief background of their service and talked about their military experiences, particularly their service in Vietnam, Desert Storm and the war in Iraq. The soldiers answered questions from the students about their experiences and talked about what it was like to be in the military. The soldiers also explained the sacrifices our veterans have been making since the Revolutionary War and talked about the sacrifices made by the family members left at home.

The Veterans in the Classroom program was developed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and is designed to encourage students to learn about the experiences of veterans and about important concepts such as service, sacrifice, loyalty, commitment and teamwork.
