Lake Andes has had a new business on Main Street for the past few months. On March 20th Vernon’s Repair and Auto Service became K Tire & Oil LLC. K’s Tire and Oil is owned and operated by Jr Kiyukan. He has not yet had a grand opening but plans to once the shop is more where he would like it to be. Kiyukan currently has five employees, all from the local Wagner and Geddes areas.

Jr has been doing vehicle repair work since he was 12 years old when he started replacing motors. He has a lot of hands-on experience working on small engines, marine equipment and tractors. He would like his shop to be unique by providing quality and prompt service to his customers. K Tire & Oil currently offers tire repair and replacement, parts ordering, AC Delco batteries, oil changes, and general maintenance on light duty cars and trucks. His goal is to be able to provide services to people right away when they need it without having a long waiting period. Business first started out slow but has become very steady for the repair shop.

Kiyukan was born and raised in Lake Andes and had worked for Vernon’s Repair for several years. When it came to finding his own place to start his business, purchasing Vernon’s Repair and Auto Service was a good fit for his needs. He feels that his business can benefit Lake Andes by offering needed vehicle services locally and by creating jobs. He has many ideas and goals for the future of his business including offering more products and services, expansion, and leaving a legacy for his children.

When Jr is not working, he enjoys hunting, especially deer and shore fishing on the river. He and long-time partner Charlotte Pesicka have three children Rory, Lawrence and Zander. One of his favorite hobbies is rebuilding his 1946 Plymouth Special Deluxe. It is currently in his shop and is almost up and running. He also owns and operates a second business, K’s Towing & Auto Recycling.

K Tire & Oil LLC is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and also for emergencies. Congratulations and much success to you on your new business in the Lake Andes community.
