VA PRESCRIPTION REFILLS
In our COVID-19 environment, people who regularly take prescription drugs for chronic conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure may be wondering what will happen with their refills. VA wants you to know they are working hard to make sure you get your prescriptions on time, and when you need them. We ask that you request refills of your VA Prescriptions as soon as possible. VA will process your refill request and have it sent to you before you're scheduled to run out.
To prevent waste and reduce the risk that unneeded medications could fall into the wrong hands, VA does not automatically refill medications. To receive a medication refill authorized by your VA prescriber, you must actively request a refill using one of the following methods.
My HealtheVet online prescription tools make it easier to manage your medicines. Mem-bers registered in My HealtheVet are able to refill VA prescriptions online. You may also view a list of your past VA prescribed medications, track delivery of your medications and get prescription shipment notifications. To gain access to My HealtheVet, go to www.myhealth.va.gov and create an account.
The Rx Refill mobile application (app) allows Veterans to request refills of their refillable VA-issued prescriptions, track VA prescription deliveries and view VA prescription history from the convenience of their mobile device. The app provides a native mobile interface for the Rx Refill feature found within My HealtheVet. Refill requests submitted through the app or the My HealtheVet website that are dispensed by a VA Mail Order Pharmacy are easily tracked using the app’s “Track Delivery” feature. Rx Refill accesses your VA Electronic Health Record and, for your security, requires you to enter ID.me, DS Logon or My HealtheVet account credentials. Telephone Call: Most VA Pharmacies have automated telephone refill lines. You can find the phone number of your local VA Pharmacy on your prescription label. To order refills by phone, you will need the prescription number (shown as RX # on the prescription label) and your Social Security Number. To refill by phone from the Sioux Falls VA, call 1-605-336-3230 and push option 1 to be connected to the pharmacy.
By Mail, the VA Pharmacy provides a request form with each prescription filled. To refill by mail, complete the request form and mail it to your VA pharmacy at the address listed on the paperwork that arrives with your prescription or you can fill out VA Form 10-2478 and mail it to your pharmacy.
