UNITED EVENT PLANS PROGRESS
Plans related to the 605 Unity JAM are progressing as planned and several portions of the programing will be concluded during the next two weeks and specific announcements about the programing will then be made public at that time. At the present time, requests for financial partnership involvement opportunities have gone out into the community and the responses will help determine what will be the next phase of the planning.
The planning group for the event is broken up into specific interest areas to help focus on specific parts of the event. The members of each sub group focus on specific programing needs, such as entertainment, cultural presentations, arts and craft venders, food venders and more. Each sub group is focusing upon their portion of the programming and then the groups will come together for the final planning stages of the project. At the present time the group is looking for people within our area who are willing to share parts of their cultural heritage. The sharing of culture not only allows people to feel pride in their background, but also allows the information to be shared and saved for the next generation. Sharing the language, beliefs, traditional dance, food for thought and for the soul, music and customs is of great value to all who hear it. If you possess any of this from your own culture please offer to share so it can go on beyond yourself.
Advertising for the event will begin in the next two weeks and will focus upon a 50 mile radius of Wagner. Based upon feed back the group has been receiving the group is expecting a very good crowd to attend as this kind of event is new for this part of South Dakota. If any individuals within the community would like to help financially, but have not been contacted please contact Dana Sanderson as soon as possible at 491-0804.
