Avon High School track team has traveled to three different track meets since the start of their season. Since then, several athletes have had amazing results. With the Wagner track meet being cut short because of poor weather, not all events were completed. Finishing high in this meet was a testament to the athletes because there were 16 teams in attendance.
For the Pirates’ field events, Courtney Sees competed in girls long jump, showing promising results and currently being ranked first in the our region with a jump of 16’ 6.5”. Lila Vanderlei also placed first in shot put with a throw of 34' 9.5”. Vanderlei also placed 5th in discus with a throw of 100’ 5”. For boys discus, Kley Heumiller placed first in discus with a personal record of 119’ 5”.
In running events, the girls 4 x 100-meter relay involving Mylie Bares, Lila Vanderlei, Ella Small, and Courtney Sees placed 6th. In the boys 3200 meter run, Tyler Tjeerdsma placed 4th.
The Pirate track team will travel to Gayville for the Great Plains Conference track meet on April 26.
