TOLSMA/SWIER TO SING IN HAWAII

By

By: Kimberly Tolsma

“Aloha!” This traditional Hawaiian greeting seems very appropriate. In six weeks, June 14-20, juniors Kimmy Tolsma and Sarah Swier will make the trek to Honolulu, Hawaii for a week-long choir trip. The two girls were invited by the USA Honors Choir to sing at different locations around the island. They will be singing at Pearl Harbor, Kawaiaha’o Church, and the Aloha Stadium.

During their non-scheduled time, Tolsma and Swier can go on hikes, go to the beach, or go parasailing or snorkeling. They will also experience a traditional Hawaiian Luau.

Of course, a trip like this is expensive! To help defray the costs the girls have set out jars around town at different businesses for donations, and they hosted a free will donation pancake and sausage feed on March 6 to help with some of the costs.

“Aloha!” Ironically, this traditional Hawaiian greeting is also a traditional Hawaiian farewell!
