TOLSMA AND SWIER SPEND WEEK IN HAWAII FOR THE HONORS CHOIR USA

By

Kimberly Tolsma and Sarah Swier were honored to attend the Honors Choir USA in Honolulu, Hawaii from June 13th through June 19th.

Both of the ladies shared remarks on their amazing trip.Tolsma said, " I am so so so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to go to Hawaii for a week with the USA Honor Choir. It was surely an experience I will NEVER forget!

Sarah Swier and I had rehearsals each day for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening so we had the rest of the day to explore the island and do whatever! We were able to go snorkeling with sea turtles, hike the famous Diamond Head Crater, learn the history of the Pacific Island villages, lay out on the beach, and eat all of the fish and shrimp we could!! Oh, and SHOPPING On Saturday and Sunday we traveled to the St. Andrews Cathederal, Kawaiaha'o Church, Polynesian Culture Center, Ala Moana shopping center, and the Macadamia Nut Farm for a mini concert (that concert can be watched on the USA Honor Choir YouTube Channel).

Once again, thank you to everyone who donated money, helped with fundraisers, or wished us safe travels for this trip! I truly am blessed to live in such a supportive community such as Avon!!!"

Swier also shared in her excitement and gratitude saying, " Wow! I want to start by saying thank you to my family, friends, and community. Thank you for all the support and encouragement you gave both me and Kimberly Tolsma in this venture. Hawaii is an amazing place and the USA Honor Choir has blessed me with memories I will never forget.

We did so much in the short amount of time we were there, and each day was jam-packed with adventures. A few highlights included visiting Pearl Harbor, singing on the USS Missouri, climbing Diamond Head Peak, snorkeling with turtles in the Atlantic, and exploring the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Overall, this trip has been a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, and I am so appreciative to everyone who helped to make it a possibility."

There were students from 18 different states in attendance.
