THUNDER SEASON COMES TO AN END
The Andes Central/Dakota Christian boys basketball team came ready to play for Region action as they took the court against Kimball/White Lake on Monday, March 2nd. This was a game that will be talked about for a long time. The Thunder team left everyone feeling very proud as the buzzer sounded. The score may have had them down by 1 point at the end, but they won in the hearts of many as they took everything they learned all season and played an absolutely amazing game.
These young men have worked hard all season which was evident from watching this game. From the first quarter to the fourth fans were on the edge of their seat as the scoreboard showed the close battle.
The team will have five seniors graduating this spring, they are: Noah Sejnoha, Jaeson Garcia, Trevor Timmermans, Tyler Swanson and Parker VanderPol.
This year found some new faces on the bench as the team welcomed Head Coach Eric Olson and Assistant Coach Waldon Olson. The Olson coaching duo helped the team step up as they challenged them to help them become a better team.
Leading the offense for this match-up was Parker VanderPol with 19 points and 8 assists. Jaeson Garcia chipped in 16 points, pulled down 15 rebounds and had 5 steals. Tyler Swanson added 14 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals. He also brought the crowd to their feet not once, but twice as he had two slam dunks during the evening. Nolan Black Cloud added 10 points. Rizon Clark had 4 assists for the evening.
From the field the team shot 38% with 27 of 71 and were 59% from the free throw line sinking 13 of 22. The Thunder team had 36 total rebounds but gave up 17 total turnovers. Their season came to an end with a record of 9-13.
