THUNDER GIRLS FALL TO AVON AT HOME

The AC/DC Thunder girls basketball team hosted Avon on January 22. The Thunder battled throughout the contest, with Avon holding the advantage through the early quarters and building momentum heading into halftime. AC/DC continued to compete in the second half, working to close the gap, but was unable to overcome Avon’s lead by the final buzzer.

Lily Muckey and Halle Olson led the Thunder offensively, each scoring 16 points. Audrey De-Haan added six points to round out the scoring for AC/DC.

Olson also filled the stat sheet, leading the team with seven rebounds and six assists, while adding three steals. Muckey contributed five rebounds in the effort.

As a team, the Thunder shot 30 percent from the fifield, connecting on 11 of 37 attempts, and fifinished 6-of-9 from the free throw line for 67 percent. AC/DC collected 22 rebounds in the game.

The Thunder now look ahead to their next contest on January 24 when they take part in the Irene-Wakonda Classic against Sioux Falls Lutheran.
