Wagner’s VFW Post 7319 teeners traveled to Winner to participate in their annual tournament. Wagner would come up on the short end of a 9-4 score against Gregory in their first game. Dominic Doom, Kingston Brunelle, Brannon Bruguier, Avery Medicine Bear, and Steven Peters all toed the rubber in this one. Combined they would give up seven hits, twelve walks, and one hit batsman.
Medicine Bear, Brunelle, Peters, Colton Zephier, Trasin Dilts, Gavin Tjeerdsma, Beau Otte, and Lacen Sully all singled for Wagner. Gregory pitching would issue zero walks.
In the second game of the day, Wagner would defeat Parkston by a score of 7-5. Peters would start the game on the mound and go two innings. He gave up no runs on just one hit while walking two and striking out two. Zephier came in to pitch the final four innings. He allowed five runs, four of them earned. He walked none and struck out two.
Doom and Brunelle each had two hits in this game with Doom getting a double. Doom drove in two runs and Brunelle scored one. Zephier, Otte, Peters, and Connor Gabel each had a hit and a run scored. Bruguier added a hit and an RBI as well.
The final game was against a team from Emery/Ethan. Wagner held a 7-2 lead heading into the final two innings but couldn’t hold on as they would fall by a final score of 8-7. Wagner would mount a rally as they put runners at the corners with no out but two Ks and a ground out ended it.
Doom and Ed Ulrich handled the pitching in this one, each going three innings. Doom gave up two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two. Ulrich allowed six earned runs on seven hits while walking three, hitting one and striking out two.
Ulrich, Doom, Peters and Otte had two hits apiece with Doom collecting a double and Peters knocking two runs in. Ulrich and Dilts scored two runs each.
