On Wednesday, July 10, the Post 7319 teeners traveled to Mt. Vernon and played some rather uninspiring baseball.
The 14U team lost by a score of 5-0. Ed Ulrich had the lone Wagner hit. Dominic Doom started on the mound and did not pitch poorly. He gave up four runs but, due once again to us not being able to make plays for our pitcher, only one of those four runs was earned. He allowed two hits and walked three while striking out two. Landon Ronfeldt pitched the last inning and gave up one run, also unearned, on one hit.
The 16U team then took the field and lost by a score of 7-4. We were held scoreless until the last inning when we used four walks and three hit batters to score four runs.
Javian Pesicka started on the mound and made it 2.1 innings. He gave up five earned runs on four hits while walking four and striking out three. Malakai Segura would relieve in the third inning and go 1.1 innings giving up two earned runs on two hits and four walks while striking out two. Brady Cournoyer and Preston McFayden then pitched the final 2.1 innings. Neither allowed a run. Brady gave up just one hit and struck out two. McFayden allowed zero hits while walking two and striking out one.
Wagner collected just four hits on the night, one each by Pesicka and Frank Soukup. Brady Cournoyer added two hits and Trasin Dilts reached base all three times with two walks and a hit by pitch.
The 14U team travels to Hot Springs to play its region tournament on Tuesday, July 16.
The 16U team will begin post-season play on Sunday, July 28, in Wagner as they will host Madison in a doubleheader.
