On Monday, July 8, the Post 7319 Teeners of Wagner hosted Corsica-Stickney in 14U and 16U action at Hennies Field.
Colton Zephier got the nod and spun four well-pitched innings as Wagner topped the visitors by a count of 6-2. It would take Zephier 62 pitches to complete those innings. He allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out five. Edward Ulrich pitched the last inning allowing one earned run on three hits while walking none and striking out one.
Kingston Brunelle had the big night at the plate as he went 3 for 3 with two RBI. Dominic Doom and Steven Peters would come off the bench to collect some timely pinch hits. Doom knocked in two with a two-out triple while Peters got one home with a single. Beau Otte and Ruger Loeffler each singled and scored. Ulrich walked twice and scored both times while Trasin Dilts walked and scored a run.
In the nightcap Frank Soukup took to the mound to lead Wagner to a 6-0 victory. Soukup pitched six of the seven innings. He struck out nine Corsica-Stickney batters while walking only two and giving up two hits. Javian Pesicka pitched the last inning giving up one hit and striking out one.
Jamian Medicine Horn came up big offensively for Wagner. He had a two-out RBI single to plate Wagner’s first run in the second inning and then came up with a bases loaded single to score two in the sixth. Also for Wagner, Steven Peters singled and scored a run. Soukup walked and scored a run. Dilts scored two runs after reaching on an error and a hit by pitch. Preston McFayden collected a hit and an RBI. Pesicka and Paxton Kulhman had the other two hits for the home team.
