On Monday, June 27, the teeners traveled to Salem where Wagner would come away with two wins on the night. The 14U team were 4-3 victors in their game as they were led by the pitching of Brady Cournoyer. He pitched all five innings giving up the three runs, all of which were earned, on seven hits and three walks while striking out seven.

Javian Pesicka, Frank Soukup, and Preston McFayden all collected two hits with McFayden’s being a double and a triple. Preston would also drive in a run and score two. Malaki Segura had a double and two RBI while Trey Segura also had one hit.

The 16U team would play a very good game as they won by a 6-2 score. Matt Link was the starting pitcher and was very effective this night. He would pitch 5.2 innings giving up one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out seven. Matt was relieved by Corbin Carda in the 6th inning due to the pitch limit. Corbin gave up one earned run and two hits while striking out two. Our pitchers were helped by some excellent defense as there were no Wagner errors in this game plus a couple of great plays by Frank Soukup in the outfield. He made a diving catch in the bottom of the 4th that saved two runs and then came back in the 5th to throw a runner out at the plate to end the inning.

Wagner would collect 13 hits on this night, all of them being singles. Link, Pesicka, Carter Cournoyer, Colby Krcil, and Carlin Hopkins all had two hits on the night with Pesicka driving in two runs and Link scoring twice. Carda, Loeffler, and Soukup would also have a hit with Loeffler driving in one run.

On Wednesday, June 29, Corsica-Stickney’s teeners traveled to Wagner for the usual 14U/16U doubleheader. In the first game of the night the 14Us played well enough to earn a 4-2 victory. Frank Soukup started for Wagner and pitched a complete game to earn the win. He allowed two earned runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out nine.

Offensively, Wagner was led by Javian Pesicka, Brady Cournoyer, Trey Segura, and Malaki Segura who had two hits apiece. Brady Cournoyer drove in two runs and Malaki drove in one with a double that was smashed to the left-center field gap for a book rule double. Soukup would also collect a hit and score a run on the night. Kysin Cook would score a run as would Pesicka and Cournoyer.

Ted Slaba would get the ball for the 16U game, and it would take him less than 70 pitches to complete six innings and earn the win as Wagner came out on top 4-1. He gave up one earned run on three hits while walking one and striking out four. Carter Cournoyer would start the 7th inning and strike out the side to earn the save.

It was a struggle at the plate as Wagner would collect only seven hits and would strike out 12 times on the night. Matt Link was the only player to collect two hits as he singled and tripled. Matt would also score three of the four runs. Slaba would help his own cause as he hit an RBI single and a sac fly to drive in two on the night. Corbin Carda would also single and score while Pesicka, Colby Krcil and Carlin Hopkins each added a hit as well.
