SUMMER PROGRAMMING AT WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Summer Programming is an exciting and eventful time at the Wagner Community School. This summer, our program will run from July 8th- August 2nd. We run a four-week program that is open to any students in grade Kindergarten-7th who are currently enrolled in our district. The goal of our summer programming is to foster a love of learning in each child who participates. Our students experience hands-on learning approaches to help them experience learning in new and exciting ways.
This year we are focusing on an agricultural theme. Our students will spend their afternoons learning about cattle, buffalo, elk, sheep, goats, chickens, corn, and soybeans. On August 2nd, we will host an Ag Museum that will be open to the public. Please plan to attend so that you can see what our students have learned and discovered about agriculture in our area. Watch for articles each week in July to see where we have been.
Throughout the month, each class has the opportunity to take a field trip. This year students will be going to Brookings Children’s Museum, Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in DeSmet, Fort Randall Dam, Mitchell Corn Palace, SDSU, and Kreycik’s Elk and Buffalo Ranch. We also have many community members who are also welcoming our students to their farms and businesses. The Wagner Community School summer staff is currently preparing the summer programming curriculum and is excited for our students to return for a great summer enrichment experience!
