STUDENTS EARN AWARDS AT ANNUAL SCIENCE FAIR

On February 16, Avon freshmen, junior high, and sixth-graders participated in Science Fair in the auxiliary gym. The Science Fair was open to the public from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Awards were held at 8:00 p.m. Each individual or group used a trifold board or poster board to put their information on, and each individual or group presented their board to the judges.

First, second and third place finishers advance to Brookings for a virtual fair on March 15. Also, how students advance to Brookings is Mr. PaulKhulmanandMrs.Tamara Cams look for the best projects and also look for broad categories. Consequently, the Science Fair participants can receive more awards.

Sixth Graders Award Winners: First place- “Peppers vs. Soil” Rilyn Thury; Second Place-“Fish Bait” Rance Kuhlman and Jack Fathke; Third Place- “Moldy Fruits” Braylon Fathke and Grayson Ratzlaff; Honorable Mention-“Life of a Battery” Jake Namminga and Jordyn Voigt; Honorable Mention- “Will it Dance?” Ella Grant and Jackie Lane; Best Presentation- “Different Batteries” Tessa Pazour; Most Applicable-“Life of Battery” Jake Namminga and Jordyn Voigt; Best Use of Mathematics- “Peppers vs. Soil” Rilyn Thury; Best Board- “Will it Melt?” by Charlie Simpson and Breanna Hento

Junior High Individuals - Group A: First Place- “Does mouthwash with or without antiseptic affect the amount of Bacteria killed?” Katie Swier; Second Place- “What is the best way to grow your potatoes?” Lila Vanderlei; Third Place “Where are the most germs located in my school?” Devin Ruckaeschel; Honorable Mention- “Can Color affect Memory?” Jayden Driesen; Honorable Mention- “What light is the best?
