Wagner Good Samaritan Society residents received a wonderful surprise thanks to a local area business. What started out as an idea to bring flowers to a relative turned into a mission to get flowers for all the residents. Lucy Leines, of the business Stems and Cells, reached out with an idea for people to sponsor a resident and local businesses showed their support as well as other community members who started calling in. Before Lucy knew it, she had enough donations to deliver beautiful flowers for every resident in the Wagner Good Samaritan Society. Residents were so appreciative of this wonderful gift and were so moved by the Wagner community thinking of them during this tough time. One resident asked what the flowers were for and we said, “the Wagner community bought them for you to let you know they love you.” She burst into tears and was so overwhelmed by such a kind gesture. Lucy’s random act of kindness also enabled her to receive enough donations to deliver flowers to the nursing home in Lake Andes and other towns have picked up on this great flower delivery idea. In a time when we are to keep social distance and are not all able to visit our loved ones, this was a beacon of light. It shows how a random act of kindness can truly spread to others and create change for the better.
