This year Avon School district went to State One Act at Brandon Valley High School. At the state one act competition, Avon won 1st place. We interviewed the drama director, 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Knodel. These where some of the comments she had about making it to state this year. “I felt amazing after learning we advanced at regions. Each year it seems as if ourcompetitionbecomesstronger. I was excited to be able to have a change to perform at the State One Act festival for the 4th year in a row!”

Some of the preparation that the drama group had to do incude, takingsomeof theregionaljudge’s suggestions and incorporating them into the play. Mrs. Knodel said, “As a director, I went to the festival on the opening day and watched other schools perform. I attended critique sessions to hear what judges had to say about other schools.” With those judge critiques in mind she decided to change the end of the play! Which lead to a last minute practice in the hotel lobby on Saturday morning before they took the stage.
