The Elite traveled to Mt. Vernon where they picked up a pair of wins by the score of 26-5 and 14-3. Emeryson Haenfler and Leah DeWald picked up the wins. The Elite then participated in the Lowell Rang tournament in Mitchell. In game one the Elite faced a tough South Dakota Players team and lost by a score of 11-0 Emeryson Haenfler was on the mound. In game two the Elite played the Tea Derecho. The Elite struck for 3 runs in the first inning when Harper Kracht, Leah DeWald, and Kensley Devries all scored on a series of walks and hit batters. Tea struck back for two of their own in the bottom of the first. The Elite picked up one run in the 3rd when Leah DeWald reached on an error, stole second and was driven in by a double by Brielle Voigt. The Elite could not hold the lead and gave up 3 runs in the top of the 4th to fall behind 5-4. The Elite battled back in the bottom half of the last inning when Harper Kracht doubled and was driven in by another double by Brielle Voigt. This tied the game at 5-5 and by tournament pool rules the game ended in a tie. Leah DeWald was on the hill and struck out 3 in five innings of work. The Elite then played the Brandon Valley Blitz. The Elite jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead when Emeryson Haenfler walked, Harper Kracht reached on an error and Leah Dewald singled to load the bases. Brielle Voigt then singled driving in the first run. Kensley DeVries followed with a double driving in two. However, they could not hold the lead and eventually fell by score of 9-4. In the final game on Saturday the Elite played the Brookings Outlaws and lost by a score of 13-1. Leah DeWald and Brielle Voigt each had one hit. Harper Kracht was on the mound for the Elite. In Bracket play on Sunday the Elite finished off the Mitchell Storm by a score of 17-4. Leading hitters for the Elite were Leah DeWald with a single and a double, Whitley Wolf with a single and a double, Sidney Johnson with a single and a double and Emeryson Haenfler with a single and a double. Harper Kracht added two singles and Johanna Namminga and Stella Ratzlaff each had one hit. Leah DeWald picked up the win. The Elite then had a rematch with Brandon Valley. They again jumped out to quick 4-0 lead. Emeryson, Harper, and Leah loaded the bases on a series of walks and errors. They were driven in by singles by Kensely and Stella. However, the Elite could not hold the lead and were eliminated from bracket play by a score of 13-4
Southeast Elite 10U vs. Burke
On Tuesday night the Southeast 10U team beat Burke by the score of 8-3 Macy Haynes picked up the win with relief help from Stella Ratzlaff, In the 12U game the Elite won by a score of 14-4 Leading hitters for the Elite included Rowan and Raegan Brandt, Harper, Leah, Kensley, and Sidney. Harper picked up the win, striking out 9 in 5 innings of work. The Elite now stand at 12 wins and 13 losses. They next travel to Yankton to compete in the Yankton’s Father Day Tournament.
Southeast Elite 12U vs. Corsica
The Elite 12U beat Corsica on Wednesday by a score of 23-3. Leading hitters for the Elite were Kensley DeVries with a single, double, and triple along with Brielle Voigt who added 2 singles and a double. Raegan Brandt added 2 hits. Leah DeWald and Kensley DeVries combined for the win. The pair struck out 7 in five innings of work. The Elite 12U record now stands at 13-13.
Southeast Elite 10U against Vermillion
The Elite traveled to Vermillion where they swept a pair of games from the Vermillion Flamze 10U. In game one the Elite scored 2 runs in the first inning when Emersyn Haenfler walked and was driven in by a triple by Harper Kracht. Shaeleigh Grant followed with a single driving in Harper. In the 3rd inning Kodi Maggs lead off with a double and was driving in when Emeryson singled to left. The Elite then gave up 3 runs so the game was tied 4-4 going into the final inning. In the top of the last inning, Emersyn and Harper both singled and were driven in by a sharp hit to right by Stella Ratzlaff. The Elite added one more run and held on to win by a final score of 7-5. Macy Haynes went the distance on the mound striking out 9 in in 5 innings of work. In game two, the Elite struck for 5 quick runs. Kodi was hit by a pitch and Macy walked. Emersyn and Stella both followed with hits driving them in. Shaeleigh Grant reached on a walk and advanced to 3rd where she scored on a fielder’s choice by Keira Fathke. The Elite scored 2 more times in the 3rd when Kodi walked, Macy was hit by a pitch and Emersyn then drove both runners home. The Elite surrendered 7 runs in the first four innings so were behind 7-6 going into the final inning. They added five runs when Addison Fathke reached on an error and Haven Haenfler walked. Lydia Lane walked and then consecutive doubles by Kodi and Emersyn drove them in. The Elite slammed the door in the bottom of the inning on a great double play turned by Emersyn and Stella. The Final scored ended at 12-8. Stella Ratzlaff picked up the win with Emersyn coming in as relief.
