SOUTHEAST ELITE STARS AND STRIPES TOURNAMENT

Southeast Elite competed at the Stars and Stripes Tournament in Vermillion. Game 1: The Elite started out fast scoring 8 runs in the first inning off of the Vermillion White. It was a walkfest with the Elite walking 8 times in the inning. Leah DeWald delivered one hit in the inning scoring the final run. However, the Elite could not hold the lead and surrendered 8 runs to Vermillion in the top of the second. A series of walks and errors doomed the Elite. The Elite then gave up 2 more runs in the top of the 3rd to fall behind 10-8. With time running out the Elite battled back in their last at bat. Sidney Johnson walked and Harper Kracht followed with a base hit driving in Johnson. Kracht eventually scored on a series of passed balls. Emeryson Haenfer walked, stole second and then ultimately scored the winning run on a pass ball. Haenfler started on the mound and was relieved by Leah DeWald who picked up the win. Game 2: The Elite advanced to play the Hartford BaAtitudes. The Elite struck first when Haenfler walked and scored on a Fielders Choice by Reagan Brandt. Hartford then went on to score 7 unanswered runs. The Elite tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the 6th. After two outs, Stella Ratzlaff walked and Johanna Namminga was hit by a pitch. Haenfler followed with a walk to load up the bases. Leah DeWald hit into a fielders choice scoring Ratzlaff. Rowen Brandt followed with a sharp single to right scoring Namminga and Haenfler. That was the end of the threat and the Elite fell by a score of 7-4 Leah DeWald was on the hill for the Elite. Game 3, the Elite faced a stout team from Crofton, Nebraska. The Elite again scored first when Haenfler walked, stole second and eventually scored on a passed ball. The Elite then gave up 9 runs in the next 3 innings. The Elite scored their last run when Rowen Brandt walked and Raegan Brandt was hit by a pitch. Ashley Soukup followed with a fielders choice scoring Rowen. Leah DeWald and Harper Kracht were on the mound for the Elite. The Elite next take on Wagner in Avon June 4th at 6:30 p.m.
