SOUTH DAKOTA LEGISLATIVE NEWS

By

Thank you to the Alexandria Development Corporation for host in gacracker barrel. It was great to see so many people involved in the process and to hear their feedback.

The 22nd was crossover day; the last day for abill to be heard in the body of origin and have action taken. HB 1075 was the Governor’s grocery tax bill. Based on many conversations with the constituents of District 19 I was not in support of this bill. I believe there is a better option for a tax relief that will still allow us the funding to take care of the state obligations and our future.

As a fiscal conservative I support ed abill to decrease the overall sales tax rate to 4.2%. I thinkt his option will help all of South Dakota and does not pick winners and loser sin tax relief.

We are looking hard at foreign ownership of our agricultural land. We want to keep South Dakota farms and ranches for South Dakotans.

The Governor brought the issue to light, and we are committed to making progress on this. We are working onim provementstoou relection system. We have passed bills to tighten up absentee voting and drop boxes. I look forward to the last two weeks of my 1st session and am proud of the progress we have made so far. Thank you for the continued support.

God Bless!
