SOON-TO-BE GRADS EARN SENIOR TRIP
Avon’s senior class of 2021 traveled down to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for their senior trip. They left on March 24 at midnight and returned March 26 at 10:30 p.m. The group included ten seniors and two chaperones, plus the bus driver! After a long nine-hour drive, they arrived at their first destination.
First stop was Cosmic Cavern, an underground cave in Berryville, Arkansas. It holds a consistent temperature of 64° F year-round and is the “warmest” cave in the Ozarks. The cave is Arkansas’ largest privately owned cave. It was discovered in 1845 but wasn’t developed until 1927.
After this tour, the senior class went downtown Eureka Springs to eat some lunch and check into their cabin. They went back into Eureka later that night for a Mexican supper and a downtown historical tour about the town of Eureka Springs.
The next day they had lots of time to go shopping and explore the town. Along with that, they did old time photos as a group. That night they went to a haunted hotel tour of the Crescent Hotel and spa. They went around the whole hotel holding ghost detectors while learning about the history of the hotel and some of the tragic events that had happened there earlier on. They also got to go into the morgue.
The next day, although the seniors were packed up and on their way home, they managed to stop at the Legends Outlet in Kansas City, Missouri. After they went shopping, they were on their way back to small town Avon, South Dakota. A good time was had by all of the seniors.
