SERVING UP CONFIDENCE: KAYDENCE'S VOLLEYBALL JOURNEY

By

For volleyball player Kaydence Metzger, when the pressure gets overwhelming, she remembers to “stay calm and confident in what she can do.” Kaydence has been playing volleyball since sixth grade. Her biggest achievement has been earning her spot on the varsity team; her biggest motivation is her team and her ability to be a team player. For the players, the season is still young, and for every practice and game, there is opportunity for improvement. Kaydence Metzger shared her perspective on how she can improve both on the court during games and at practice. “I’ve been working on my confidence, and that’s always been a big thing,” she explained. When asked about her performance this year, she reflected,“Definitely not my worst, and not my best; I think there are always some improvements to be made.” Her dedication to growth and confidence in volleyball doesn’t stop just at practice. She also has a pregame routine, consisting of drinking a Powerade and eating a protein bar, which prepares her for her positions in volleyball- she plays outside for Varsity and acts as the setter for Junior Varsity. Fueled by a Powerade, protein bar, and plenty of confidence, Kaydence steps onto the court ready to give her all for her team, showing that hard work and a positive mindset go hand in hand.
