SENIOR TEAM FALLS SHORT TO VERMILLION

By

On Wednesday, June 18, the Wagner Post 11 Senior Legion boys traveled to Vermillion to take on Post 1.

A rough first inning sealed the fate for Wagner as Vermillion used three walks, two errors, and a hit batsman to stake an early 3-0 lead. They would add another run in the 3rd after a stolen base sandwiched between two singles.

Wagner’s first run came in the 2nd inning. Carter Cournoyer walked and proceeded to advance home on three wild pitches. Their next two runs came in the 6th as Malakai Segura singled home Joey Cournoyer. Carter then scored his second run of the game after Trasin Dilts grounded into a double play. That would be all the scoring as Vermillion prevailed by a score of 4-3.

Brady Cournoyer went the distance on the mound. After that first inning he settled in nicely. He allowed four runs in his six innings of work, though only one was earned. He walked three, hit two, and struck out five.

Segura had the lone hit for Wagner, driving in one run.
