SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

Madalyn Rose Kocmich, daughter of Dawn and Don Kocmich, was born on November 10, 2002. She has one sister McKenna.

Her favorite subject in school is English because Mrs. Swier is preparing her and others how to write good papers for college. Her most challenging task as a senior is to stay organized and have everything ready so she can graduate and go to college. Her favorite high school activities are playing volleyball, basketball, and golf, along with statting for football and boys basketball. If she could give any advice to the underclassmen, it would be, “Take harder classes that will help you once you get to college. Keep on pushing yourself and give it all your effort and all you’ve got.”

Kocmich will miss seeing all the teachers and staff. They always have their doors open if any students need help or someone to talk to. One thing she regrets is not taking her freshman and half of her sophomore year more seriously and not giving it her all. AHS has prepared Kocmich by having classes that students are able to take to challenge themselves and prepare them for college. She will never forget making it to the SoDak 16 in volleyball, almost winning in five sets against Chester Area.

Kocmich likes working out, writing, drawing, reading, and napping of course. Her proudest moment in life thus far is making it to State Basketball in Aberdeen her freshman year. Her role model is her mom. Kocmich’s mom is basically her best friend. She is always there for her when she needs to talk or needs help with something and always believes in her and gives her the best advice. Kocmich’s future plans are to attend Lake Area Technical Institute for dental assistant.

The quote Kocmich lives by is, “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
