SCHOOL - SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS
Emilio "Mino" Cournoyer was born August 14, 2001 in Yankton to Peggy and Stephen Cournoyer.
Classes he is taking this year include: English 12, Dual Credit Math, Personal Finance, Chorus and Government. High school activities Emilio has been involved in are: football, basketball, wrestling, track and baseball.
Emilio's favorite childhood memory is playing sports. His first crush was Megan Fox from Transformers. His greatest strength is he is motivational and is procrastination is his greatest weakness. In the summer he has been employed with Bouza Construction. Emilio would like to be remembered for working hard. He feels his most interesting aspect of himself is his work ethic because he had to start over four times.
His favorites include: all the Rocky and Creed movies, The Big Bang Theory TV show, Run Around Sue song. His grandmother has inspired him most as no matter what she kept fighting.
His most embarrassing moment at school was when he fell in a puddle of water at track practice. He will miss football most when he leaves high school. He shared that high school was tough and fun and if he could start school over he would be more involved.
His goals for the future at college, job, family and be financially stable and he plans to achieve his goals with hard work and effort.
Jace Faulkner was born July 10, 2000 in Arkansas to Misty and Marshall Faulkner. He has one younger brother Cade (15).
Classes he is taking this year include: English 12, College Math, Nutrition and Wellness. High school activities Jace has been involved in are: football, baseball, basketball and wrestling.
Jace's favorite childhood memory is going camping with his family.
In his spare time he enjoys hunting, lifting weights and getting tattoos. If he could start high school over he would of participated more in wrestling. He is a member of the US Army Guard.
The accomplishment he is most proud of was second grade Spelling B runner up. His favorites include: American Sniper movie, Friday Night Lights TV show, Not Like Us song and his favorite high school activity was football.
The person who inspired his most is his father. He will mostly miss the sports in high school. His goals for the future are to get rich or die trying and plans to stay focused in order to achieve his goals.
Daaron "Monkey" Tronvold was born August 18, 2000 in Yankton to Kevin and Jolynn Tronvold. His siblings include: Aaron, Gia, Hannah, Alyssa.
Classes he is taking this year include: Government, Personal Finance, Language Arts and Native American Studies. While in high school he has been involved in football, basketball and track. He would like to be remembered for his athletic ability and being a leader.
His favorite childhood memories are going to college football games. In his spare time he enjoys hunting and fishing. The accomplishments he is most proud of are always being on the honor roll and lettering in sports.
His favorites include: Avengers movie, The Ranch TV show, his favorite class is Personal Finance and his favorite teacher is Kenny St. Pierre.
Friends comment that he is a joker and he feels his teachers would say is a hard worker and likes to goof off.
He will mostly miss spending time with his friends after graduation. His goals for the future are to graduate college being an athletic trainer. To achieve his goals he plans to work hard and stay on track.
Brianna "Brie" Deurmier was born May 30, 2001 in Parkston to Diane and Darryl Deurmier. Her siblings include: Trevor (23) and Brooke (21).
Classes she is taking this year include: Personal Finance, Government, College Composition, Senior English, Leadership & Service, College Math. High school activities Brianna has been involved in are: volleyball, basketball, softball, track, National Honor Society, FCCLA, Student Council, chorus, football stats, elementary tutoring.
Brianna's favorite childhood memory is camping and boating with family and getting her dad to whip them around in the tube. Her greatest strength is her sense of humor, her greatest weakness is eating too much. In her spare time she enjoys handing out with friends, going to the gym and baking some sweets. During the summer he is a lifeguard at the Lake Andes swimming pool.
Her first crush was Channing Tatum. Her favorite TV show is Grey's Anatomy, Michael Jackson is her favorite musician, Leadership and Service is her favorite class and her favorite teacher is Amy Petrik as she pushes her to always do her best and easy to talk to about anything. Brianna would like to be remembered for doing everything in her power to make a difference. She likes to sing and dance when no one is watching. She is most proud of making all three conferences in basketball and volleyball this year. All of her family has inspired her as they support her in everything she does.
Her most memorable moment at school was making snowflakes with Mrs. VanderPol to decorate her room. Her most embarrassing moment was tripping over the half court line with no one around her. Friends comment that she is a very nice person that is always there for you and has an awesome personality. Sidney Muckey had this to say about her, "Brianna is one of the sweetest girls I know. She cares so much about others and her heart for people is incomparable."
She will miss her teachers, her AC/DC teammates and coaches the most. He commented that high school is what she expected but it flew by too fast. If she could start high school over she noted she would put more effort into everything, so you know you gave it everything you have. Her future plans are to attend Dakota Wesleyan University majoring in Family Studies and minoring in Criminal Justice. She plans to achieve her goals by, "working my butt off and study hard!"
Chaz James was born November 14, 2000 in Yankton to Sophia James and Chris Espinoza. His siblings include: Larissa Chavis
(23) and Shonda James (28).
Classes he is taking this year include: Personal Finance, Government, English 12, Native Studies and College Math Readiness. Chaz's favorite memory was being around his friends and playing video games. If he could start high school over he would participate in football. In his spare time he enjoys watching movies and being with his friends.
He is a member of the US National Guards and is employed at Cahoy's General Store.
His first crush was Emma Stone. His greatest strength is his mind at will and his greatest weakness is his procrastination. He would like to be remembered for his morals and some of the wisdom he has spread. The most interesting aspect of himself is that he can sing Johnny Cash pretty well. He is most proud of joining the Army and going to college. His favorites are: American Graffiti movie, Johnny Cash "I'll be Seeing You Again" song and musician. Her favorite class is Native Studies Class. He is most inspired my his grandpa and Johnny Cash. They were father figures for him when he didn't have one.
His most memorable moment at school was just sitting in class with his friends and laughing over something. He will miss his friends and some of his teachers when he graduates.
He plans to get his degree in the future.
Natan Doherty was born July 5, 2000 in Minneapolis MN to Marise and Doren Doherty. His siblings include: Robin (24) and Lita (17).
Classes he is taking this year include: Personal Finance, English and Math.
Emilio's favorite childhood memory is spending the whole day swimming and cooking out at the river during the summer. His greatest strength is being creative, his greatest weakness is Math. In his spare time he enjoys drawing, listening to music and playing x box one games.
Natan is employed at the Fort Randall Casino.
Natan would like to be remembered for his awesomeness! He is most proud of finishing all his classes. He is most inspired by last year's seniors because they had good advice.
His favorites include: Looney Tunes movie, Sponge Bob TV show, Science class and Mr. Johnson is his favorite teacher as "he's so cool!" With leaving high school he will miss being with his friends everyday but says school was pretty much what he expected. If he could start high school over he shared he would try to get all A's. His teacher's would probably say he's a goofy kid.
Natan would like to be successful in the future and he plans to achieve his goals with work and education.
Friends comment that Natan is a fun guy to hang out with.
Emily Iverson was born April 21, 2001 in Yankton to Mary Soulek.
Classes she is taking this year include: 12th Grade Literature, Mathematical Reasoning. While in high school she has been enjoyed in golf, National Honor Society and Student Council.
Emily's favorite childhood memory was hunting and fishing with her family.
Emily is employed at Cahoy's and LA Health Care Center.
If she could start high school over she shared she would participate in basketball and volleyball. In her spare time she enjoys driving around and being with her friends and family.
The accomplishment she is most proud of his graduating as valedictorian.
Her favorites include: Tommy Boy movie, The Simpson's TV show, Fishin'intheDarkoranythingGeorgeStrait music. Herfavoriteclassis Math and Tech/Shop and her favorite teacher is Mrs. VanderPol because she always pushed us to do our best and was an all around awesome teacher. Her teachers would probably say she's always willing to put the work in and put her best effort into her work.
Her most memorable moment at school were too many to count, "our class could always be laughing and joking around." Her most embarrassing moment at school was falling off the playground pole in kindergarten.
She will miss being able to seeing her friends everyday most. Her friends comment that she is very outgoing, smart and caring person. Her goals for the future are to attend Mitchell Tech for her LPN and continue on to Southeast Tech. He plans to achieve her goals by pushing herself and never losing sight of her goals.

Class of 2019 Cliff Johnson was born February 9, 2001 in Yankton to Cliff and Susan Johnson. He has an older sister, Brieanne Johnson (25).
Classes he is taking this year include: Government, 12th English, Physics and Athletic Training Class. While in high school he has been involved in football, basketball, track, chorus, band and FCCLA. If he could start school over he would participate more in chorus.
In his spare time he enjoys playing video games, working out and movies with friends.
His favorite childhood memories are riding bikes around town (biker gang). His greatest strength is he is smart and his greatest weakness is zebra cakes and whale crackers. He would like to be remembered for being the big, smart and athletic kind. The most interesting aspect of himself is being tall, people always asked me to get things and kids always know me as the tall guy.
Of all his accomplishments he is most proud of playing football for USD.
His favorites include: Cars movie, ESPN Sports Center TV show, Hill Song United music. His favorite teacher and class is Mrs. VanderPol English as she taught him more than just a school lesson. His father has inspired him the most because he pushed me hard since I was little. His most memorable moment at school was first class to graduate from the new school. His most embarrassing moment was during senior year when he and his classmates were skating on ice when he slipped and fell for like five seconds. He will miss making memorable moments at high school. If he could start high school over he would be more involved with the younger kids. He feels his teachers would say he is willing to work hard, helpful and very smart.
His goals for the future is to become a well-known physical therapist, starting lineman at USD and play pro football. To achieve his goals he plans to get good grades in college, get stronger and faster.

Kobe Weverka was born August 30, 2001 in Columbus NE to Joe Weverka and Evelyn Archambeau. His siblings include: Ethan Weverka, Emma Hofer, Isiah Weverka and Nyomi Weverka.
Classes he is taking this year include: Personal Finance/Government, Environmental Science, 12 Language Arts and Leadership & Service, Algebra II. While in his school he participated in chorus, band, pep band and others. In his spare time he enjoys playing video games and shooting guns. His favorite childhood memory is shooting each other with airsoft guns.
His favorite teacher is Mr. Holmes, "he's the best!" He has been most inspired by his grandfather, as he teaches him new things.
His most memorable moment at school was when Ryan was trapped and a fast spider ran at him.
He will miss seeing his friends after graduation. His goals for the future are to finish college, work and then retire.
Tyra Medicine Horn was born June 10, 2001 in Sioux Falls to Sheri Mengenhauser (mother) and Jerry Medicine Horn (father). Her siblings include: Damian Medicine Horn (14) and Nevaeh Medicine Horn (14).
Classes she is taking this year include: Government, LA12, PE/Health, College Math Readiness. While in high school she has participatied in volleyball, basketball, track, choir and tutoring. She is employed at Inside Scoop. If she could start school over she would participate in FCCLA, NHS (National Honors). The accomplishments she is most proud of is state track/all her awards for sports and getting accepted to college.
Her favorite childhood memories are: eating, singing/dancing and playing dolls/dress up with her aunts. She would like to be remembered for making people happy. The most interesting aspect of herself is her goofy personality, "because I'm fun and funny, can make you smile and laugh."
Her first crush was Zac Efron. Her greatest strength is helping others and her greatest weakness is cake.
Her favorites include: the movie The Little Mermaid or Wreck It Ralph, the TV show Law & Order SVU, favorite song Beautiful Crazy by Luke Combs, favorite class is Math and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Bice as she is fun and teaches in a unique way.
Her parents and Nana have inspired her the most. Her parents who accepted me and pushed me to be the best and my Nana, who is very supportive and always helped me.
Her most memorable moment at school was the fresh start in the new high school. Her most embarrassing moment as spelling thunder wrong on a poster "Thuder" and Hummel who made everyone come look. She will miss all the people and teachers who made school fun when she graduates. If she could start high school over she would worry more about my work and get it done A.S.A.P. because grades matter. If someone asked her teachers to describe her she thought they would say she is very talkative, sassy, happy and but fun to be around. Her goals for the future are to be a pediatric nurse that saves lives. She plans to go to college and work her tail off to achieve her goals. Friends comment that "I am goofy, a hoot, and Sid Muckey says I'm crazy, fun, happy and beautiful!"
Jacob Maynard was born August 11, 2000 in Parkston to Jay and Kristen Maynard. He has a younger sister, Kali (15).
In his spare time he enjoys playing video games, going to the movies and being outside. He was employed at Lake Andes Carnegie Library in the 9th and 10th grade class and for the Charles Mix County Conservation District in the 11th grade.
His favorite childhood memories are spending holidays with his family. His favorite strength is Science and History and his greatest weakness is Math. He would like to be remembered for being a hard worker. He feels the most interesting aspect of himself is his sense of humor, "I like to joke around."
His greatest accomplishment is going to the International Science Fair. He is most inspired by his Uncle Jared, it's the reason he wants to go into Environmental Science. His most memorable moment at school is building floats for homecoming.
His favorites include: Futurama TV show, Foo Fighters music, Environmental Science class and his favorite teacher is Ms. Bice as she makes learning fun.
His most memorable moment at school was in advisor he was trying to kick the highest and fell on his face. He will mostly miss getting to see all his classmates when he graduates.
His goals for the future are to go to college in the fall at SDSU for Environmental Science and move to Alaska, "I like the cold!"

Michael Stone was born March 12, 2001 in Yankton to John and Alicia. His siblings include: Evan, Lana, Shenah, Chrystal.
Classes he is taking this year include: LA12, Algebra II, Government. While in high school he has participated in football, wrestling, basketball, archery and Native Club.
In his spare time he enjoys playing instruments, reading and gaming. Michael is self-employed. His favorite childhood memories are making memories with his friends.
His greatest strength is hopefully his humility and his greatest weakness is his doubtfulness. He would like to be remembered for being funny and wise. He feels the most interesting aspect of himself is his desire to learn, "I like learning anything."
The accomplishments he is most proud of are his educational awards (for making his parents proud).
His favorites include: the movie Apocalypse Now, TV show The Twilight Zone (60's), Little Bird song (Jimi Hendrix). His favorite class is history and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Stephens as musically she is a large inspiration. He feels his teachers would say that he is funny, disruptive and smart, but lazy.
He is most inspired by writings or big actions of others, good or bad I learn from them. His most memorable moment at school was the native speakers and the most embarrassing was yelling at his teachers. He will mostly miss the relaxed and fun environment of small town life.
His goals for the future are to learn electrical and/or house construction and help my Indian community. He plans to achieve his goals by getting his education in business.
