By

High school seniors and post high school adults, who are enrolled Yankton Sioux Tribe members who are interested in going on to a technical college at Mitchell Technical College, Southeast Technical College or Lake Area Technical College may be eligible to apply. The scholarship opportunity is known as the “Yankton Sioux Tribe and Build Dakota Partnership Scholarship” and has continued to be a great opportunity for students who want to continue their education after high school. In most situations, graduates have been very successful in making their educational and career dreams into reality due to the fact that a job is usually waiting for them upon graduation from the technical college.

The scholarship was created as a partnership between the Yankton Sioux Tribe and the Build Dakota Scholarship program each of the three post high educational institutions. If selected, the scholarship will pay all of the cost involved with tuition, books, fees and required tools that are part of course being studied. To qualify for the scholarship applicants must be enrolled Yankton Sioux Tribe members who are interested in the qualifying educational programs at the technical college listed.

The deadline to apply for this opportunity is March 3. Anyone interested in applying for this special scholarship opportunity should contact the school counselors at Marty Indian School, Lake Andes, or Wagner. Applicants may also contact Dana Sanderson, who helped work with the technical colleges and the Yankton Sioux Tribe to help create the partnership opportunity. His contact number is: 605-491-0804. The deadline is approaching and interested applicants should address their questions as soon as possible as the deadline is approaching.
